Job Summary:
Cleantek is seeking a highly motivated Principal Electrical Engineer with working experience in electric vehicle infrastructure to work directly with project engineers assessing and designing new installations.
Responsibilities:
- Create and review construction plans for commercial DC and AC EV Charging equipment and BESS/Solar systems.
- Provide guidance to project engineers/designers by reviewing construction drawings to insure correct electrical equipment, wire/conduit sizes, etc…
- Design creatively to future ready projects for potential additions i.e. size switchgear and provide spare conduits to add chargers, solar, BESS etc. and/or upsize conduits for future increased power needs.
- Gather information required by electrical utilities for new/upgraded services.
- Review and stamp construction plans sheets for permitting.
- Provide guidance and assistance with comments, changes and requests that arise from permit reviews and utility applications.
- Identify and assist the procurement team with electrical supply equipment specifications.
- Provide guidance and support to in-house and external construction crews.
- Work with partners and in-house software team to develop remote system controls and status monitoring.
- Closely manage and monitor high-value and/or new technology projects from concept to commissioning.
- Research and apply standards for electric vehicle infrastructure.
- Keep up to date and familiar with industry trends / technological developments such as V2X, EV charger technologies, battery energy storage, solar, etc.....)
- Perform occasional site visits to client sites to determine project feasibility.
- Review and/or conduct load calculations to determine capacity of existing panels for EV charging station upgrades at client sites.
- Travel to active project sites to review construction progress and respond to RFIs as required. .
- Develop charging infrastructure standard operating procedures, design guidelines, installation guidelines, and engineering standards.
- Attend internal and external meetings and serve as a technical resource to other Engineers, Contractors/Installers, and Project Managers
Requirements/Experience
- BS/MS from an accredited university in Electrical Engineering.
- Current Professional Engineering PE license in California (additional states a plus).
- Minimum 5 years electrical design or related design experience.
- Experience with EV infrastructure or other relevant industries preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast paced team environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience maintaining successful client relationships.
- Ability to mentor and train young engineers, reviewing their work and giving appropriate feedback to ensure quality control.
- Passionate about electric vehicles and alternative energy solutions.
Compensation
- Salary Range is $80,000 - $120,000 depending on experience.
- Job Type: Full time
- Role is based in-office in San Pedro, CA.
